SHED HUNTING, 2003

WINTER 2003

Aaron's first fresh moose shed. Found February 2003, on the Kenai Peninsula.

Exploring Alaska and Scouting for Moose May 2003

Camping out in our  "secret hunting spot", look at the moose rack that we found at our camp!

Unfortunately we opted not to pack this rack out the five miles....Maybe next year.

This is how we deal with the mosquitoes  in Alaska.

May 17-20 Road  Trip up the Dalton Hwy (Haul Road), Alaska.

Stop at the Artic Circle. The Haul Road is about 409 miles of dirt road from Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay.

Caribou under the Pipeline

Bull caribou, just sprouting antlers.

Young grizzly watching from under the pipeline.

Our camp site in the middle of the Brooks Range.  This photo was taken at about 10:30 PM.

On our drive out, this griz was only 20 yards away.

The first "fresh" shed of the day, and the first time Aaron found a better shed than me!

Two more fresh shed finds if the day.

Aaron and "our" sheds.

April 27th and 28th, 2003

Jill's first and BEST find (two of eight).  Both sides of a bull caribou.

Camping along the road in interior Alaska. Nothing like having a couple beers after a long day of hard shed hunting.

Herds of caribou were everywhere

Aaron's best find of the trip,  (one of three).
