SHED HUNTING, 2004

After snowshoeing for about four hours in at least two feet of snow, everything started looking like moose antlers. But when I looked across this opening and saw those rounded points,  I knew I'd finally found what we were looking for.... A fresh Alaska-Yukon moose shed!!!

February 24-25

Nothing can explain the excitement of finding a shed, let alone a very fresh shed, let alone a shed with this much antler mass.  This is my treasure...my first moose shed!!!

April 28th

Aaron FINALLY finds some sheds after  "800 miles of walking".  Actually we walked over all these sheds during the winter when the snow was three feet deep.

April 29th

The biggest one he found this year. Still combing the hills in our "secret spot" in Alaska.   All I know is that he is lucky he didn't find the match to my side, especially had the match been bigger than my side.

May 5

Aaron finds some older sheds.

A bear spent some time gnawing on this antler.

Old winter kill moose.
