SHED HUNTING
Montana, winter 2008 |

Wow...another
year goes by and it is shed hunting season again! Thank goodness! We
somehow made it through summer here in MT and were so happy to see the first
snow!
The deer dropped a little later this year, than last so this
was a super sight to see after a number of days scouting. Aaron found
the first of the year! A very broken five four point. Must have
been a fighter. |
|

Then it was my turn! We had walked close to this a few days
earlier...wonder if we'd missed it!!! Looks like it had been on the
ground a few days at least!
Two at once is great fun! A nice four point set. |

We went out a few days later and hiked our tails off and found
zero...our last hike of the day was a bit more productive since it
was in the timber. We'd been battling a lot of snow, so this
was a welcome sight! Saved it before the snow could bury it.
|

A heavy four point! We walked for awhile more and found
nothing else that day! |

 I
feel really bad about this first shed hunting page of the year!
I seem to have walked the right path every time we went out....
This was a lucky find! I believe the deer
feeding must have bumped this antler under this log! Kodi
enjoyed the camera time for the first time this season! Still
going strong old boy! |
|

The next spot we went had too much snow for the dogs so we left
them and hiked hard. The snow really accumulated quick this year!
I was ecstatic when I saw this! I love these kind of ATL pics! |

A fantastic treasure to dig out of the snow! A nice four
point whitetail! Wonder where he was this hunting season! |
|

Somehow Aaron walked right past this one! Whoops! I nearly
did, but then looked back and saw the tine! I hated to say
it to him, but I couldn't leave it sitting there! A
nice fork! |
|

The last one of the day was between Aaron and I.
Aaron had a slant in the land so he couldn't see it until he was
almost to it. I little four point in a deer bed! |
